In children’s books, particularly middle grade fiction, it isn’t a race. You would be hard pressed to find a children’s book author that is in this for the money or even “the fame”. We write in the genre because we have a passion for writing in this genre and most importantly, we have a passion for our readers. So, acknowledging this achievement isn’t about bragging or boasting, it is about realizing my goal for this book is coming to fruition. That goal was to get this book into the hands of as many middle grade readers as possible.
The STEAM Chasers is about introducing middle grade readers to Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math through the lens of Black American contributions to those areas. This book is filling a much needed gap and it is needed in the world today. I am absolutely honored to have this opportunity.
